COVID-19: Financial Relief Resources

We’ve compiled the very best financial aid resources so you and your family can get the help you deserve.

FEDERAL 

Financial Relief (C.A.R.E.S Program)

  • Automatic enrollment! 
  • A single person who makes less than $75,000 per year will receive up to $1,200
  • Couples who jointly file and have an adjusted gross income less than $150,000 will receive $2,400
  • An additional $500 is paid for each child in your household under 17
  • The amount you receive is reduced on a sliding scale for those that make over $75,000 ($150,000 per couple)
  • Individuals who make over $99,000 per year ($198,000 per couple) do not qualify
  • Everyone is eligible to receive this aid; regardless if you are an employee, a gig worker or self-employed. It is not just for people who have lost their jobs
  • You do not have to specifically apply for this aid. As long as you qualify within the income bracket (see above) you will automatically receive money
  • The government has said that their plan is to start mailing out cheques and sending direct deposits the week of April 6th
  • For those residents who are not required to file a tax return, the government has set up a separate website to enter your information in order receive your Economic Impact Payment. Apply here:

  • Please ensure your IRS direct deposit and mailing address information is up to date

Unemployment

  • Unemployment benefits are extended by 13 weeks and not only covers those who were previously employed and paid into EI, it also covers those who were self-employed and furloughed employees
  • The Federal government is providing a $600 per week add-on bonus for up to 4 months
  • Contact your state’s unemployment office to apply

Tax Deadline Changed

  • The deadlines to FILE and PAY federal and state income taxes has been extended to July 15, 2020.

Student Loan Deferral

  • Anyone with a student loan who requests a deferral will be automatically given a 60 day deferral without penalty.
  • You must call your loan servicer to request the deferral

ARIZONA 

State Financial and Employment Assistance Resources: 

  • Arizona Unemployment Insurance 
    • State unemployment benefits available for up to 26 weeks.
    • The Governor has waived the one week waiting period. People can apply immediately after becoming unemployed
    • Not only for those who have been laid off, workers at businesses temporarily closed, those facing reduced hours and people in quarantine or taking care of someone in quarantine can also apply and receive these benefits
  • Arizona Job Assistance 
  • Nutrition, Cash and Medical Assistance 
  • COVID-19 Rental Assistance 
    • The Department of Housing launched this new funding as of March 30, 2020
    • Rental assistance may be made available to households:
      • Whose primary residence is a rental unit located in Arizona,

      • And who have seen a reduction in income due to COVID-19, that when annualized, does not exceed 100 percent of the area median income adjusted for family size for the county in which they reside.

    • Application for assistance will be available as of Monday, March 30 via an online application system accessible from the Arizona Department of Housing’s website at www.azhousing.gov. Interested applicants who do not have computer access can call their local Community Action Agency to initiate an application over the telephone
